Dominant Flavours: buttery, slightly sharp, caramel and toffee notes, a subtle nuttiness with hints of sweet earth. 

Description: This stunning iconic UK cheddar has been made since medieval times. Famous for it's red colour, it was originally dyed with beets and carrots, today annatto seeds create a brilliant red/orange hue. Rich, buttery and complex with beautiful burnt caramel flavours, hint of nuts and a creamy mouthfeel, this cheese is stellar on any cheese board! 

Pairing notes: The Red Leicester pairs with complex malt forward beers. Try it with the Arkell Best Bitter. The malty nuttiness in the beer brings out the sponge toffee and caramel notes in the cheese providing a truly sublime pairing experience. Also delightful with our Special Pale Ale. Enjoy!
